To my knowledge, and I have been around Trixon drums for 45 years; Trixon was the only company that made complete sets of conical drums. There were Japanese knockoffs, that only looked Trixon due to the shape but all else was typical 70's Japanese. One of the brands was Vivant and the other was Emperador and the examples I have seen had only a conical bass and floor tom, the snare and rack were conventional.

One other company made conical drums in the 60's for sure and the 50's possibly and may have predated Trixon in this effort. Trowa , the direct heir to the Sonor factory , made the model Dixie which had conical bass drum, conical floor tom ,3 conical single head concert toms and a conventional snare drum. I have one of the floor toms. Beech shell 16" top 13" bottom.

Recently there were American made snare drums by Bison and Firchie as well as current kits made by Daldoss drums in Italy.

Too bad the pics disappeared.

I got the seller to send me pics of the INSIDES of the shells.

They are Trixon shells, all right, but the bad news is...they are pretty much destroyed!! Tons and tons of holes, gashes, cuts with a hacksaw, all badly filled. It wouild take the most major of efforts to fix these up! And then you have the problem of, where do you get Trixon lug and mount hardware? Answer: You dont.

Oh well, it was a cool idea.

i probably have the hardware-----maybe hoops to. could you send me the pictures?. south_bay@kos.net I know these drums about as well as anyone and they may not be too far gone. Trixon shells would have a lot of holes anyway, when compared to other shells. They have a number of fittings , or multiples of fittings that other drums seldom have, so possibly what you are seeing as extra holes are not. If they were Luxus drums , it probably wouldn't be worth it but since they are Telstar , it might be.
