Thanks for that Phil..are there any info on the web about these?? also i am thinking are they quite rare?? its in really good condition and the badge also so really pleased i mananged to get it mate...something different from the usual Trixons !!Cool1

there's one here http://ukdrums.weebly.com/olympic-1937-79.html but it is from a little later. has the outward flange-----so-called " triple flange " thin stamped hoops that went on the Olympics and Beverleys a while into the 60's.

yours has the heavier stamped hoops with a tight inward furl at the top; they are much nicer to play, the drum looks better and there is less openness and ring. it plays more like the Premier version, which had cast hoops.

I wouldn't know the date. The suggestion by a few that the foil badge indicates something , I would assume to be factual. Does yours have Olympic engraved into the hoop? That would tell something.

I rewrapped one of these for a customer a while ago. It was a nice little drum but I did find it to be very sharp and peaky.Moreso than some other older Piccolos that I have played. I put original wires on it and I think that is the way the drum is intended to be.

Like to see it when you get it.

Small damper with only one felt, no reinforcement rings.

As stated above, quite sharp - as I think a Piccolo should be. I think it it very much down to the sharp bearing edges and lack of re-ring.

If I didn´t want sharp, I´d bring something else, deeper and with softer edges.

My badge is not as well-kept as yours....

Jon, I've always wanted to know, is the throw attached to the bottom hoop or to the shell?

Pic makes it look as if it's attached to the hoop. Elegant, simple throw!

It is fitted to the shell.

Yes, very nice little system - only "fault" being, that it really has be in its "on" position while in the bag, or the lever protrudes and threatens to be broken. I think, I would prefer the snares to "relax" while in the bag....

Not a big problem, though.

Is yours a 3 1/2" deep drum or a 4" Jon? In some catalogues they show the Discus(as in the Olympic sport) as having 6 lugs and the Deluxe Narrow at 4" deep having 8 lugs. It's a good thing they didn't make a Shotput as well!

The shell is 7,7 cm = 3 inches.

Thanks so much for sharing yours also mate..it is in fab condition..we are both lucky to own these beauties..it looks even better in real life than the photos i had previously posted from the seller..got it here at home now and absolutely delighted with it..its mint and looks just like it did in 59' !!
