Meazzi Hollywood was the flagship line but Mod Jolly was the second line for Meazzi. I'm not sure either, about Wooding but they bear a lot of resemblance to the Hollywoods. They were introduced later on but are first rate drums.

Is it possible that the name Hollywood, conflicted with trademarks from other companies in some countries(i.e. Ludwig Hollywood's) , so Meazzi put out the saame drums under a different name. I have seen Wooding snare drums , that appear to be identicfal to Hollywood snare drums. There were Wooding Crystalline kits.

At any rate , for $50.00 + effort, those are a dismal embarassment to the state of the Australian economy.

I thought this was cheap considering in Australia everything to do with drums is super expensive because we have such a small population, the range isnt very good at all and plus 50 bucks is nothing, they were just around the corner lol.

I dunno about these other guys, but I'd drop 50 bucks on that lot without even thinking about it. The stuff on the right is probably junk by the looks, though you could at least salvage some hardware. The silver kit looks like it would need a lot of work, but again, the hardware alone would be worth the cost in my book. I've never seen lugs like those - very Ludwigesque, which is rare as I believe Ludwig was right on top of the Japanese market when they started doing copies. If the shells are salvageable then that would be a bonus. That's my :2Cents:

ok good joke then i guess haha anyway ive got them now and you were right daddynowhere, the MIJ drums were terrible which was a shame coz i love the finish on them. They had the thinnest shells ive ever seem, only 3 ply by the look of it so ive given the floor tom to my fiance to do a mosaic with. Anyhow i did salvage the hardware off them and they are actually in quite good condition. The wooding kit isnt in that bad condition and I'm definitely gonna atleast attempt to restore it. any ideas where I could look for parts? apart from the obvious such as ebay etc. remember i am in australia which makes it a bit harder to attempt these projects. pictures are gone now. seems you needed some t-rods and bottom hoops? Wooding had at least two hoop types that I have seen. Diecast and a heavy stamped type that had external clips that locked into an outward crimp on the hoops lip? The t-rods are the same on the two but the heads came as either hex or slot. The thread of the rods is the same as Trixon, so if you need t-rods the slot head Trixon rods will work. Trixon had various lengths of rods over the years so you would have to measure accurately. Trixon rods are about 50 times more common than Meazzi/Wooding. The thread is 5 x .8 t.p.m.

DW makes 3 lengths of METRIC t-rods,and the ones I bought were only $1 each!

I used them on my Hollywood kit.........worked fine

i sold my restored early 60s MIJ 3 ply for $360USD yesterday...but then again, I am the master of MIJ restoration...so for 50, you did well, the Woodings are not junk, they are good drums, and you will find out when you them up and running.
