I hadn't heard this before, but I recently read on another site that John Bonham used a Slingerland set to record Led Zepplin I. This is according to his son Jason. I also read that Robert Plant has the set now. Evidently John actually wanted a Rogers set for the follow-up tour, but because they were touring with the Vanilla Fudge, Carmine (Appice) got him a Ludwig deal instead. Could this be true? Does the good Dr. W. our Slingerland historian have any more info on this one? Will there be a rash of Bonham Slingerland sets with big bass drums popping up on eBay? Inquiring minds want to know.
Bonham uses Slingerland set on Led Zep I
He used a Slingerland set in the early days, but I think they were standard rock sizes.

Wow, great pic. Thanks, I guess we can put this one in the "probable" basket.
Those all look smaller than his ludwigs. Also the ride cymbal can't be a 24 inch. I would be surprised if he played the slingies on led zep 1, but you never know.

Numerous sources say he used a blue sparkle 22/13/16
Slingerland set with a Supra 400 on Zep 1 and there
are a bunch of pics of him with that set..
and his ludwig sets also had rogers swivo tom holder in addition tothe snarestand holding it up quite secure ...
Are the cymbals in the pics of him playing/using Slingerland's Paiste 602 Giant Beat or Zildjians?,
& Did he play/use 602's or Zildjian's on Zep1 ANYONE know for certain/sure?.
I've read this too. Somewhere someone said it was Jimmy pages slingerland kit. Either that was the case, or he used ludwigs on the album and just used the slingerland kit for a few live gigs where they had to rent a kit.. Those seem to be the two stories... Why cant someone just ask Jimmy page?
The Slingerlands came from the yardbirds The last contractual gigs that The New Yardbirds did. This was Jim McCarty's drumset He gave to page.
Carmine Appice said so himself..... I have the interview record. Carmine did help put Ludwig and John together.
