Mikey: Guess I'll be needing those snares. Please PM me.

Diamond: I'll be looking to replace all the non-Trixon rods only if I can get my hands on a Trixon key (would the slotted Premier key work?)

Here's mine... 1967 Trixon 1/440 in WMP. Buddy Rich played this year/model during his short endorsement with Trixon/Vox, thus this drum is part of my Buddy Rich snare drum collection which spans the years from 1950 to 1980. Buddy also played the Metal Concert 1/440, but seemed to prefer the wood model. This drum also has the correct Trixon snares and attachment. Hard to find as the plastic ends are usually trashed! These are near MINT though!

Glad you liked! Goes without saying that this drum.. ( 1967 Trixon/Vox 1/440 WMP ) .. looks the way it does as I completely restored it. ALL parts are original though with the only deviation being that the parallel strainer had to be rebuilt so that it would function correctly. To do that I used parts from TWO 1/440 snare drums to come up with a perfectly functioning parallel strainer. Otherwise, all parts from the same drum, including all the plastic lug gaskets which are almost always... cracked. Not these! Trixon's copious use of plastic in their drum construction always baffled me. They were innovative though!

This drum was indeed WMP from the start, but the wrap/shell needed a little work. The result is what you see here. These shells were mostly 6 ply birch, no re-rings, thus the fundamental note of the shell is relatively low. An excellent example of that is just how HIGH Buddy Rich had his Trixon WMP 1/440 tensioned back when he was briefly endorsing Trixon/Vox. 6 plies of birch and no rings will do that! The inner plies on mine have extra clear as did Buddy's. That helps a LOT in the reflectivity of the sound what with sealing the birch a bit.

The drum plays nicely actually... with a properly functioning parallel strainer, proper wires, and extra clear on the inside plies. Very articulate... sensitivity all the way out to the edge with a nice solid rim shot, especially at the slightly HIGHER tuning. Buddy wasn't completely "jazzed" on these, but they did the job till he moved on, which he did quickly having only stayed with Trixon/Vox for approx. 6 months.

Ingo Winterberg who owns the official Trixon Drums site in Germany has this drum up on his website. I was flattered and honored. Again though, it is part of my complete BR snare drum collection spanning 1950 to 1980. Buddy played it... so I gotta have it! Here's another view!
