There are a few times on Rock of the Westies and Blue Moves which Roger played on where you can hear this "funky' ride.

I have seen videos and stills that show a ride, possibly cracked with the outer edge cut away with a hunk of the original diameter hanging at the bottom. A few examples are: Between Seventeen and Twenty, and If Theres a God in Heaven, both from from Blue Moves. I'm sure there are some others on this great album.

The old Zildjian book, Cymbal setups of Famous Drummers, shows roger playing two rides side by side, I think one was a twenty four inch if memory serves me correctly and the other the cymbal described above, though the book never disclosed the cutaway!

If anyone has any more info I would like to hear from you as this drummer has always amazed me ."funky"!

Hallo Redneckdrum.....Roger used to use a 24 inch cymbal and also another one which he used to use bolt cutters on to hack a piece off it to achieve the sound he wanted. He always used Zildjan cymbals.

Unfortunately, sometimes the part near the cutaway would get weaker and weaker and occasionally fly across the stage - he missed the bass player's neck by about an inch once!!

I don't know if you are aware, but Roger passed away on 18th September 2013 after many years of illness. He was suffering from severe COPD and also in the last year throat cancer. I'm his widow.
