Yes its true that the set is a Pearl made set.its from no later than 1974 the color is called "Gold Silk" same finish that Pearl used on their sets..Shells are 9 ply with out rings.The "Maya" name set is the same as a Crown set that was also made by Pearl these two sets were the only ones i know of made by anyone that used a 8 lug 12" tom..Its a good sounding set you may need to work on the edges alittle and put new heads on the drums to get them sounding great..I would not pay more than 300.00 US for the set...Missing rods and claws on the bass i have them if you need to get them..Mikey

Well, that depends on what you are looking for. This kind of MIJ is an excellent model for keeping a basement studio or bedroom practice area- luan is not too loud and the whole thing looks pretty sturdy and well maintained. It lacks some of the real vibrant excitement of an MIJ in a vintage WMP or BDP wrap or a really old MIJ with paper thin shells and re-rings. Basically it would give you a good work horse that won't look very interesting on stage. I think you could invest 350$ and just keep looking around - you could find a MIJ that maybe didn't have all those stands and cymbals but that had more mojo. If you need a whole package from the ground up then this is certainly not too bad a deal.

350 seems a bit steep to me, although I can't tell what kind of cymbals those are. If they are good cymbals it could justify the price. Ditto for the pedals.

Good Zildjians and Iron cobras, that could be $350 right there, but from the photos, it doesn't look like that's what you got.

Why don't you think those would look good on stage, Osaka? The wrap is nice enough... it is bland by the 'wild factor' of some of the wraps.

What are those cymbals? I don't recognize the stamping.

They're 'Tosco' cymbals, I believe.

Oh yeah, I've seen them, but I don't think I've seen that stamp before. Those are somebody's less expensive line. Sabian maybe??? The ones I saw didn't seem 'half' bad, I don't remember them being B8's. They weren't something I would play, but they looked like a step up from the real cheap stuff.
