k. zildjians from Turkey.

The fakes are good enough to fool the average cymbal buyer, but they are easy to spot if you've dealt with a lot of old K's.I did some comparison pics a while back of the fake vs real stamps. The most notable problem with the fake stamps is the "D" in "ZILDJIAN" looks more like an "O". The fakes also have strange, non-K looking bells, and a few have had some kind of faux patina applied. And as Bill mentioned, none so far have had signatures.Fake on top, real on bottom:The fakes are made in Turkey, and the only ones I've seen on ebay were coming from Turkey. I've also seen a few on Boston Craigslist. But there's no doubt the 22" Intermediate Stamp in this thread is the real deal...the fakes are trying to replicate New Stamps. Thanks,Bill

HAHA thats great. I had one of them. The stupid thing cracked at the bell and we threw it out. I wouldn't take them for free!!!

the & is also very different.-----it's funny how this thread has steered from a post about how interesting I found the cymbals to whether they are fake or not, all because someone mistakenly commented as such on cymbalholic(and then retracted it in this thread). i never had any doubt about their authenticity and my post which began with did you ever see the film F for Fake-----i think some did not get as tongue in cheek. well , the cymbals are authentic but I am a fake. I'm not using my real name. My real name is Niksflac

You got the two titans with opposing views on these cymbals: Bill and Bill. It's hard to know what to believe. Either way, the battle will be epic!

No battles here. But Bill is the one who's right.

At any rate I think its been all settled.

What I want to know now is:

When is Niagra Falls going to happen?

Probably can get around to it in the New Year.-----need to effect some computer changes first; I am working with a pretty inadequate system.

Drumaholic has probably forgotten more about vintage Zildjians than I'll ever know!

This one 19 3/4". The little nick on the edge of the hole, is where an lmpurity was when they bored the hole. I don't think this cymbal has ever been seriously mounted or played.
