Long story almost short...
I'm a non-drummer that has done a little drum-tech work for local bands,
long, long ago & far away. Then life got in the way. So my knowledge is
ancient & limited but the heart is on the right place. My guitar & bass
are getting dusty so it was time to add to the collection.
My wife found a set of drums through one of her website connections. $100.
Old, used locally & in storage for 15+ years. Kick, floor tom, 12" tom, snare,
hi-hat, 4 cymbals, throne, hard cases, some stands & assorted parts. Hell, for
a Benjamin, assuming the wood isn't split, go for it. She did.
I am now the proud owner of...I don't know what. Holy crap, this thing is
more devoid of identifying marks than a KGB assassin at the Kennedy White
House. I found a Premier registration card, unused & never filled in, in the kick
case.
The two toms have Premier heads.
The kick has a REMO Tympani batter side & a ring only resonance side (since removed).
The snare has Yamaha replacement heads, done in 2005, according to the still attached receipt.
A 21" Zildjian ride, 2- 16" Zildjian splashes & a 14" Zildjian full of drill holes, $100 isn't bad. A couple of cymbal stands & everything wil be up & running.
I ordered new heads, all the way around. 15 years of dry rot, it's time.
NOT A SNGLE HEAD FIT!!!!
After some research, you guessed it, they are pre-int'l heads. So, wasted shipping costs & now I'm looking at REMO. Too bad, I prefer Evans. C'est la vie. Unfortunately, REMO does a 20" kick but not a 22" (well, technically, a 21-5/16) so that'll have to be custom made.
I'd like to see if anyone can help identify what I have. The kick spurs are super short & underneath. There is no mount (tom or cymbal) on the kick. The rings are wood. The hardware is the "L" shaped lug. The toms & snare have slotted lugs.
Here are some pics to help you help me, Help, I need somebody,
Help, not just anybody...never mind.
