Name one product that doesn't have at least something from china in it.Almost everything has some content from china. Sad but true. There is not one drum manufacturer making stands in the states. Danmar makes some flat based stands that they say are made here but I would bet that at least one part is from China.
I know, so many components are made in China. I wanted to make a professional-only blow dryer with U.S.-made switches, etc. and have it 100% user-serviceable with precision bearings, etc.. Finding U.S.-made switches is very, very difficult. The motor isn't that hard to get (though it's getting tougher). I was going to do my own carbon fibre case, but the fabric would be made in either Hungary or China. Ugh!!! I also don't know if hairdressers and barbers would be willing to buy a $750 blow dryer, even though they would never have to completely replace it!!! Note that a "high quality (my foot)" pro dryer is around $200-300 and they last about 1.5 years.
Maybe I have to find an older U.S.-made throne base, or have Jim Petty make the canister base for me, even though the latches would probably be made in China.
I guess I am more disappointed in the "made by an American" slogan stamped on the seat, but "made in China" on the base.
