Artificial Aging

Now just think- it's going to be nothing like the poorly done "relic" guitars you see on fleabay!!! I am talking subtle aging, not dropped from a pickup truck, polished with 30 grit sandpaper and doused in Rit yellow dye with a muriatic acid bath for good measure-aged.

Yeah- I'm THAT guy!!!

FYI OK, here's my solution. First, buy the biggest Hookah Pipe you can find at your local head-shop & 20 pounds of weed. Put both in your basement & invite Tommy Chong over for a week. Locate your newly wrapped shells (with hardware attached) in a central location of your basement, suspended from the ceiling tiles. Lastly, make sure there's a couple cases of Cheeto's, Bean Dip, Frito's & Dr. Pepper in the basement so Tommy doesn't migrate upstairs.

Let this mixture incubate 1 week, Party then kick Tommy's a$$ to the curb...and there you have it, Aged Drum Shells!...all at a total cost of $12,000!...ugh, well wait a minute...maybe I need to rethink this...I'll get back to to Bun..........LoLoLoLo

Dan-

I think we do have common DNA...

However; at that rate, why not DIY on this, you know?

Big Brother is watching bro!...in all truth, I had plans of tying Tommy up & giving him the Cheeto's & such, (he wouldn't know the difference) and doing the dirty work ourselves...tough job, but somebody's gotta do it! CryBaby

I went into a local retail store - housewears and such - and a lot of the furniture and household fixtures were pre-aged. The furniture looked like old wood with that 'vintage' green/yellow/red/orange pastel paint - you know, the stuff of American Pickers. This stuff was scuffed up but new.......comes from China....and looks pretty solid and not cheap either.

Actually I liked what I saw. The chests of drawers, cabinets and such were made using nails (not staples) but put together fairly simple as cabinet making goes.

I don't think I want to buy "pre-aged" drums, heads, wraps and hardware though...

I'd never pre-age a head.

I am thinking instant "player grade" stuff...

I wasn't talking about pre-aged heads either! I have this 12" Coated Emperor that I have used on all my 12" toms so far... it's dirrrrty, but still sounds great and the coating holds.

Sorry - I didn't mean to include "heads" in my postDOH I got carried away with the list of Pre-Aged drum stuff. Maybe I should have been specific and just said pre-aged drum shells and sticks. I am seeing lots of pre-aged stuff around though.
