some of you may have seen a recent group of ebay auctions for some larger k's being sold out of Ankara, Turkey. well, something about them tweaked my curiosity----I was convinced that they were N.O.S.. I don't normally spend that kind of money on cymbals ----more like a hundred bucks is the rule but my hunch was correct. they have been handled-----quite bit but there isn't a speck of buffing or wear around the holes, so if they aren't N.O.S., they are very close to it. one looked to be mildly keyholed in the mediocre pictures that the seller provided but as I suspected, it turned out to be a small dimple in the bell ,just where they punched the hole. The 18 is a new stamp and the 20 and 22 are intermediate stamps. 1726, 1895, and 1880 gr.------the sellers scale weighed them about 60 gr. heavy. they arrived today so, I haven't had much time with them but they do seem nice.

Let me see if I understand this correctly.
18" - 1726 grams
20" - 1880 grams
22" - 1895 grams
And these are all about 60 grams lighter than these weights. Is this correct?
no. those are the weights that I got. his quoted weights on the cymbals and the stickers that were on them, were about 60 grams higher, per cymbal. I've never had a reason to doubt my scale but I'll check it against some known weights. I have those at the farm but I'm not there right now.

actually , now that I look again ,you reversed the 20 and 22. the 20 is heavier than the 22. the 22 is 1880.
Congrats! :Snow Flake:
How about the 22"?

I reversed them because I found it improbable that the 20" would weigh more than the 22", but now I find otherwise.
That weight for a 22" is extremely thin....as in record breaking thin for an old K.
And yet the 18" is heavy.
The 18 makes an immediate small bass drum mounted ride crash. It is compact and rides and crashes with authority. The 20 and 22 are also light enough for this application( that's a big thing for me----all of my drums with the exception of the little Kings mini kit have bass mounted arms---ride/ crashes are the ticket for me) but they seem more stick sensitive. Haven't figured them out yet.
I'm sure you would all like some pictures and or sound files but I'm not quite there yet. Unfortunately ,when I do start submitting them, it is going to be a steady stream .
