B8's or ZBT's ????

Loading...

Hi All,

I have been tasked with the fun job of ordering a bunch of gear for use with a kids program that I'm associated with and although it's always nice to spend other peoples money, I want to at least have the personal satisfaction that I'm doing the best thing for everyone involved. Here's my question ....given the choice between Sabian B8's or Zildjian ZBT's are there any really big differences comparatively? Please hold all the sarcasm like "they are both equally worthless junk"...I have enough negative nonsense floating around in my head as it is.....constructive comments will be most appreciated. I know I can count on you.

Thanks. Glen

What a terrible set of choices...

I like the Sabian B8 marginally better than the ZXT's. That being said, did you ever consider Paiste Alphas?

Yeah- I'm THAT guy!!!

Sabian B8 Pros aren't horrible, the regular B8s are awful.

ZBTs I think are even worse

ZXT series I don't think is terrible, and I also don't think its much more than the ZBT line. I had a set of ZXT hi-hats for a long time, I still have a ZXT Titanium Series ride cymbal.

As for Paiste Alphas never heard them

Also Wuhan makes good cymbals at a fair price look into some of those

1973 Slingerland Phantom 13,16,22
Late 30s Slingerland Radio King- 7x14
SJC Custom Snare Pink Sparkle- 8x14
62 Slingerland COB Radio King- 5x14

Alphas are roughly in the same price range as the B8's. Specialty packs in the Alpha range cost more, but a three cymbal pack runs around the same. I love my Alphas, and so do a few pros.

You know what I think that the kids will be thrilled with either. I would buy what ever costs less, that way you'll have cash for some more stuff... good luck...mike

In the end, you're right. My long ears like the Paistes the best and I even use them myself. But if there's a special price on the others, I'm with you: use the $$$ saved for more stuff!!!

Plus 1 on the Alpha's, even Paiste's cheap stuff sounds good!

Thank you for all your responses. Hadn't considered the Paiste Alphas, they do look good for the money. Perhaps for the older kids, or me even!

I pulled the trigger and decided to take advantage of the Sabian B8 Anniversary package deal for $279.00. How could you not?.....14" high hats 14" crash 16" crash, 18" crash, 20" ride and a 10" splash just for kicks, all for less than 300 bucks. Let the kids go at them hard and sloppy and put the savings toward stands and new heads. Thanks Gentlemen.

I can hear the kids already...."break it Beavis, break it!!!!"

There is another option....Sabian XS20.......great sound for the money and they aren't that much more than the B8 or ZBT lines.
