Tama RockStar kits were what I played for a long time when I was a kid- and did touring and recording with them- I like the ones from the very early 90s especially. Sounds like a great deal you got there.

I am pretty happy with this one so far. Yeah- the "floor" toms aren't as low as I like, but they tune pretty low for the small batter sizes.

The drum hardware itself is pretty impressive as far as it's quality. But then again- Tama were always good when it comes to the drum's hardware. They weren't called "the strongest name in drums" for nothing.

Now I have to pretty her up.

I think they will be pretty good for gigs, especially since they'll be nice and compact. Even with the missing lugs, claws and reso hoop, it's still a cracking good deal!!!

I just spent a little time with this kit. She's definitely punchier than my Premiers. I found it a bit odd that the 13"-er is less punchy than the 14"-er. They won't sound like an earthquake, but have a nice, mellow but punchy sound. I think I could get along well with this kit; however, I would love a 16" floor tom for it.
