Hi Folks,
Here's the info from the "New Sonorus" person.
He writes that his predecessors didn't leave him a lot of info,...
According to him, Sonorus used Delmar wrap and it could be either "red ripple" or "red onyx". Looking at it, none of the 2 finishes come even close to the Wine Marble so I guess we'll keep it to Wine Marble !
The shells are indeed 3-ply birch, re-rings are beech.
The "Ludwig type" lugs were used between '70 and '88.
Apparently the type of Tom-holder was used between '79 and '88 what dates the drums younger than expected.
If this is true, I guess it's no wonder that Sonorus wasn't a huge success as in those years everybody was looking for the deeper toms,... I know I did !
Surely 13"X8" and 14"X8" toms weren't very popular in the 1980's.
Anyway,... as a Belgian vintage drum enthusiast, I'm happy with it as by my knowledge there were only 2Belgian drum manufacturers in history, Sonorus and Marius Renatus.

One of my favorite wraps ever! GORGEOUS!!! Cool1
I definitely see some Sonor connections on those drums. Cool kick handles too.
Wonder what kind of wood was used?
Love both the wrap and the tom holder!
Were the shells bought in from Premier?

No idea,...
This Belgian brand holds quite some mysteries and little to no information seems to be available,...
I wouldn't call me a specialist but as Belgian vintage drum enthusiast, I had never heard of Sonorus until a few months ago,...

Oh, blessed spirit of Europe 70's...
Splendid set, Stef !
I love 'Sonorus' very much - I remember that my first post on VDF i wrote about Sonorus 30's... :)
Do you have the original kick pedal in this kit?

Hi Father,
thanks for the comments.
No original hardware was included. In stead: Gibraltar, Yamaha, etc...)
I saw that post, it was in the Marius Renatus thread.
Those drums look like they are the offspring of a sex orgy of Ludwig, Sonor, Premier and Rogers...
