Jon,
Turns out I acquired a couple of Gretsch Shells. Is there an MIJ lug for bass drum and toms (they are different sizes) that will fit Gretsch Shells?
What do you think, do they exist?

I'm gonna pipe in here-sorry.Early Ludwig Accent lugs look very similar to Gretsch-try those!
Thanks, bro, but I'm looking for cheap lugs here, I imagine the Luddys would cost about the same as original Gretsch lugs.
As far as I know, the Gretsch look-a-likes by Pearl are, I believe, the same size as the original Gretsch lugs. They are certainly cheaper than the Gretsch. I have some of the snare lugs, but not sure if I have any of the bass or large tom sized ones...

Just wanted to add.Yes Pearl made copys of the Gretsch lugs you can fine these on 40 or so names of sets..But the Gretsch copy lugs hole's will not work on a Gretsch drum shell the mounting screws are closer than the Gretsch, you would have to re-drill one of the holes...Mikey

Mikey knows best...
I got a set of 4 maple Slingerland shells on Ebay (2 1960s & 2 1970s) that were completely stripped bare. I used late 60s and early 70s Pearl "battleship" lugs and they fit right into the holes without any extra fiddling around. Using MIJ lugs is a good idea I think.

That's s really nice job. Congrats!!!!
Those are sweet!
I don't want to steal this thread but if you like this kit- I found a Tama Rockstar bass drum 22" (of course we cannot compare them to Slingerlands)in the same finish - it's a really FUN kit and totally great sounding- I use it in the practice room- 22x14 Tama, 14x14 Slingerland, 12x8 Slingerland. Crazy mash up of a kit- 2 1960s Slingerland shells with Pearl lugs and hardware and a 90s Tama Rockstar bass drum- but a sweet sound going on- it works.
