You have now been absolved, provided you took the shot of Patron. ;)

Those are not Trixon. There were two Japanese brands that came out in the 70's, I believe-----Vivant and Emperador, obviously trying to hitch a ride on Trixon, which were likely the same drums, with different names. They had a 22 to 18 bass drum and a 16 to 14 floor tom, with normal snare and tom. Trowa in East Germany also made a conical kit; with bass, floor tom and 3 conical rack bongos------kind of a Telstar/Speedfire hybrid. Currently, a company called Daldoss in Italy ,make a conical kit.http://www.daldossdrums.it/

Oh, yes the wrap. Also not like anything Trixon ever had. I have seen the same on another MIJ kit ,though.

on closer inspection, I think I see a badge that spells Vivant in dancing letters.

i have seen a set of these before on ebay----about 2 years ago and I think they were in a similar wrap---but blue.

Thanks calfskin! I have never seen MIJ in this shape, but these are certainly not Trixon, and I think we all can agree on that. When I really started looking closer at them, I could see that the interiors were more like my MIJ than Trixons. Now that I know these exist, I am going to go nuts until I can find a set for myself!

I actually applied a curly maple veneer to the interiors of my WMP early 60s Star stencil and they are really great sounding drums now, not your standard MIJ fare with 3 ply shells, similar to these.

"Ignorance may be overcome through education. Stupidity, however, is a lifelong endeavor." So, educate me, I don't likes bein' ignant...

Wow....i just had a "back in time experiece"!!!

When I read the name Vivant, Something clicked. Now, I remember.....a guy out in Rockaway that I knew as a kid HAD a set of these.

So, there WAS an MIJ knockoff of Trixon conicals. Sweet. But...those MIJ lugs arent doing it for me.....:)
