Hello guy's. It's been a while. No time, no money. HOWEVER, a deal too good to pass up, just listed on our local kijiji. 10 minutes away.

So, no time to waste. I'm on my way to look at them in about an hour, so any info would help. Literally, all I know is what you see in the pics, and that he had them when he was in his teens, and he is over 40 now. So at least 20 - 30 years old. That's it, so let the info flow. Anything and eeverything you can help with. He's asking 300, and I'll obviously low ball, but probably worth the 3 bills I'm guessing. For some reason I can't seem to resize the pics, so here's a quick link until I figure it out.

Looks like a good deal to me! Not sure what's going on with the larger rack tom, never seen those lugs before.

The acro alone is easily worth $100...

I've had chance to look at them. They are in ROUGH shape. Would need new hoops all around. The 2 toms have a black finish on the interior. The bass drum does not. Bass drum tom mount is rust ridden, and looks like there might even be pieces missing. The wrap is in rough shape as well. The Acro. has a sonor throw off, but everything else looks original, but in bad shape. The snare hoops have literally no chrome in some spots. These look like they will need a lot of TLC, and even some money. If I were to get them at say, 250, would I eventually be able to make a couple bucks. How desirable are they?

The lugs could be half plastic or metal, they did both on the five early 70`s beginners kits. Those lugs are notorious for buzzing because the tolerences were +/- 20. (very loose MIT) The kit is Franekstein. Even if they were all original, $300 is on the high side.

Buy the snare and HH for $100, but only if he throws in the kit and hardware !!

There is a small desire for the parts, but only for a collector looking to complete something !!

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

Even at 250.00 the price is to high..More like 150.00.To many things are wrong with the set is a low end "Swinger" 70's set..The fibes tom mount is Wrong and is missing the top "U" piece..I don't think the mounted toms are even Sonor un-less someone painted then black on the inside of the shell..Sonor nevered painted the inside of the shell..The lugs are plastic the only metal parts you will fine is the insert and the two mounting screws...Do you know the name of the cymbals? If they are older Zild/s it could make the price i would pay 250.00..Mikey

Ok. Well, it sounds like this kit is exactly what it looks like. The cymbals are zyldians, but they look and sound like beginner cymbals of the day. B8 kinda stuff. I made an offer for the snare only, but he needs to have a complete set to sell, which makes sense. I may offer 40, and a replacement snare on trade for the Acro. Other than that, he said the best he would do is 275, so I guess I'll walk away from this one.

Thanks for all the info, and input guys. Saved me from another one. You guys are almost like my conscience.LoLoLoLo

If the cymbals are Zildjian and they are as old as the kit then they are most likely NOT begginer cymbals. I think in the mid 80's Zildjian started making Amir and Impulse cymbals. Before that it was just the Avedis (A) and K lines. If the cymbals are undamaged you could still have a decent deal there. If he is so firm and they don't sell then wait him out. Eventually he will get tired of people coming over and drop the price.

First post here. I need the snare tension adjuster for a mid 60s Sonor. It is not the standard "dead end" type of butt end that has two bolts securing it to the shell. Rather It is single post mounted through the shell and at the end of the post has an adjuster round thumb screw with a swivel that the string holding the snares is tied to. Turn the screw tightens the tension of the snares. My drum is missing this.

On the other side of drum is the chrome snare "throw off" lever. Nowdays drum manufacturers incorporate it all in one mechanism with. Why Sonor did this type is anyones guess. If anyone has one in chrome (or copper) I'd like to buy it. hmddj
