From what I understand, Hayman was England's answer to Camco.

hayman where drum makers in there own right, i do'nt think they were out to copy anyone. a shell pack of these sold on aussie ebay recently $1000 starting bid and where sold before the end of the auction, so who knows what they went for. i have some remnants of the kit i had stolen, waiting in vane to to get another hayman kit, that would be the score of the century.Clapping Happy2

Oh no- they most certainly were drum makers in their own right; I'm just saying that they were extra special compared to Ajax and Premier, just like Camco was to Ludwig and Slingerland. The easiest comparison would be to Camco in the US.

The idea of those turret type round lugs came originally from George Way.Camco later aquired George Way,and than Camco was aquired by Tama and Drum Workshop( DW)

A little OT but Tama is rereleasing the original Camco pedal, unaltered .

Thanks for your input guys :) I know I was lucky this time.

However, earlier this month I have made yet another score. Not as good but never the less.

I found this Pearl Wood/Fiberglass kit from the early 70ties, and paid 100$. With this I also got a Tama Kingbeat snare, a 20" paiste 2002 medium ride, 2 16" Paiste Alpha crash cymbals, and a 14" headliner hihat. -Problem was that the former owner had welded new homemade Tom holders to the toms.

Luckily enough. just one week later I found another Pearl drumkit with the same tom holders and paid just 30$ for this kit, a "Fiberglass Shell" kit from 1975. I will strip this kit down and only use the hardware to fix my older Wood/fiberglass kit.

:)
