Hey all,
When did the Japanese start painting the interiors of shells grey?
I`m just curious...I have some shells that are natural and some that are painted flat grey on the insides...
Thanks in advance guys!!
Cheers

Star began it doing when they went to the thicker shells around 67-68. Don't know when or even if Pearl did, never seen a Pearl stencil painted, that I know of.
I have set of 1969 Pearl Thunderkings interiors painted gray- obviously factory paint and 69 Pearl Valencias that are unpainted. So it was done on some models in 1969. My 68 Pearl Challengers have unpainted interiors. The 67 and earlier Pearl that I have seen have not had painted interiors. I hope that helps. The answer was 1969 -ishSumo Dude
