What do you think of the LangPercussion Gladstone drums?

I've got some feedback from a few of the members here on an earlier Thread I posted. Thanks for that.

I would love to hear from anyone else that has recently bought one of Morris (Arnie) Lang's drums. All the good details. I've looked at some of them online and I have Chet Falzerano's Gladstone book....some nice photos and history in there - all good stuff.

I'm just excited about getting the drum and want to talk about it that's about all.........just a drum nut I guess. I think it's pretty cool that he's out there doing this.

I have not received a delivery date so far and I'm not in a hurry although I did request if he could have it to me before Christmas I would appreciate thatParty.

I think that, judging from the lack of responses, that you are in a very small segment of drum lovers who share an interest in this drum. I have very little knowledge of the drum, but I know that it is a beautiful drum that has an esoteric type appeal to Gretsch / Gladstone aficionados. I would love to see pictures of your own very special custom made Gladstone drum once you have received it.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

Hi - ya - I think you're right there regarding the drum having an "esoteric type appeal to Gretsch / Gladstone aficionados."

In my case I can only afford to really get into one type of drum. I started with Gretsch in 69....left drumming 76-2007 and started up again with Gretsch in 07.

I'm happy with the drums - it's fun learning about all the Gretsch players and the history. I'm a fan of any well made drum and there are lot out there.

For sure I will post some nice photos and maybe a video clip....short and sweet..description and a few rudiments and more maybe - I guess.

Gary as you already know I've had the Honor to meet the Man and Play his Real Gladstone snare drum, His drums are Fist Rate Top of the Line, you'll have a Heirloom to cherish for the rest of your life, the lack of response is it's a super high end musical Instrument that is out of the reach of most working drummers!

I'm not rich by any means - just a working person that's close to retirement and a simpler life. I know I will never be able to afford one of his drums when I retire - for that matter - I will not be able to afford buying Vintage and new drums the way I do now when I retire. So, my strategy, with my wife Rosemary's approval (in most cases) is to buy the drums I like and want now.

For example:

I could have bought the Lang/Gladstone drum without the Gold hardware and it would have been just perfect. But, when I decided to go with a Cadillac Green finish.....it had to have, in my way of thinking, Gold hardware. I mean - for the few hundred dollars more - why not.

An aside and off topic.......sorry.

I just won these and was told by a Forum member (DFO Forum) that they are not Copper Mist and Cadi Green.

I'm wondering if they're even Gretsch?

I really did not have the proper time to check around to see while the bidding was going down and I thought .....man if these are what is advertised here they will go very nice with my Gold Sparkle 58 Gretsch and the Lang Gladstone snare.

Any feedback here would be appreciated...

I just found this in a 54 Gretsch catalog...........but they did not offer the bongos in Cadi Green/Copper Mist. They're "C" on this page....
