me and chad smith!

Loading...

i was going through some boxes last night, and came across a couple of pics of when i went to brighton a few years ago.

it was at brighton university, the opening week of their new British Institute of Modern Music - BIMM.

it was drum night, and my friend had got me a ticket for my birthday, chad smith was the main act, mark richardson of skunk anansie was also there (he's the other dude in the pic, i'm in the middle, with the really goofy "i'm in the middle of two VERY BIG, and famous drummers" face on me! haha).

anyway, chad was doing some Q&A, and a little lad in the audience asked "how do you right a song?" chad answered with "just jam!"

so i threw my hand up, chad pointed at me, and the first question that came to me was "do you fancy a jam ?".

he said, yeah man, come on up!!

so i went up and jammed for a few minutes. Nice!!

it was a great night, topped off with going back stage after to have a beer with him and mark, who also gave me his 19" A custom!!

just thought i'd share them with you guys, and ask, has anyone else had similar experiences??

by the way, the writing on the first pic says, call youself a musician! signed by mark. my friend who i went with, lived and worked in hong kong just after this, and met him while he was playing with feeder at a festival there, and asked if he'd sign it for me, which was nice!

Considering he's in one of the biggest bands in the world, he was so down to earth. He was chatting away like we'd known each other for years! Like you say bunnyman, they're just the same as us really.

Not only the Chilli Peppers, but Chickenfoot, as well!!! It's no secret I am a much bigger fan of Chickenfoot than the Chilli Peppers, but that's why G'd invented chocolate, vanilla AND pistachio flavours for ice cream...

I swear it's only lead guitar players and frontmen that tend to be wankers when they get famous...

at the risk of being slaughtered - (or maybe even applauded), i'm gonna put stewart copeland down, in reference to bunnys' last statement.

he's a great drummer, but has come across as an egotistical ****!!

I have never seen a Stewart Copeland interview, but I can see him coming across as an arrogant tw*t.

But the meanest famous musicians I have met over the years were led guitarists and frontmen. That being said- Bruce Kulick (KISS), who is one of the most underrated guitar players (IMO) is one of the nicest people I have ever met.
