60's Pearl shell set

Loading...

I found a 60's Pearl shell set on sale. Sizes are 20, 12 and 14. All the drums have dampers. Some of the lugs have been renewed. Wraps and chrome parts seem to be in excellent condition. No parts missing except the plastic sheath of the left bass drum leg (and possibly the whole right leg, as it's not seen in the picture).

Is it worth buying? What would be a reasonable price to offer? Ask if you need more information.

Sweet! I would say that is in good enough condition to bring it over $200 easily. Not sure if this era Pearl are bringing much more than that, though, but it is a nice size configuration.

I agree with $200,because of the pristine condition, completeness and desirable blue diamond pearl wrap.

Osakabop-are all center lug Pearl drums Valencia's?

I think that the $200 estimate is actually a bit low for this set. First of all, it's a gorgeous wrap that looks like it's in mint condition. These are the most desirable sizes, with the possible exception of an 18" BD (if Pearl even made one.) It has the chrome Pearl script badge on each drum, not stencil badges. And, in general, they dont come any cleaner than these three matching drums.

The only thing keeping this set from being a home run is the absence of a snare drum. Even so, I'd have to value this set closer to $300, possibly more if there is someone out there with the matching snare in similar shape. I could see these 3 drums going for upwards of $400-500. Call me crazy, but they just seem that nice.

Thanks for replys.

Yes, I have a feeling that the seller might want at least 400 (euros) or even more, as these older kits are hard to come by in my country. I've seen Bolleros for 700e, and many Premiers for at least 600e far from mint condition.

Are those Pearls quality drums in terms of sound? They have a very thin shell which is just what I'm looking for. Do they sound good on different tuning settings (I would tune them high)? 6 lugs on floor tom and bass, is it a great loss compared to greater number of lugs (when talking about sound and tunability)?

I Agree with you, these drums are worth more than 200, closer to 450.

Sweet wrap and nice sizes... If the condition is as good as the picture I'd say $300.00 to $350.00 maybe.

Those Club Date copies may be a bit harder to keep in tune, but they will sound okay. Not like Club Date's but okay.
