Beverley Drums?

Loading...

Hey there folks, I've been hangin onto this kit for a few years now - anyone know anything about it? Sizes are 12 13 18 22.

Yes 18" ft! Must be kinda rare right?

The badge says Beverley, I believe they were a 70's offshoot of Premier? So an English set.

I'm fairly sure they're birch with reinforcing rings. They sound great!

Much value to it?

Thanks for any help or advice!

Thanks - I agree it is a really lovely drum kit to play.

It's in fantastic condition considering it's age: pushing 40 years (though I don't think the kick hoops are original)

Sure I'm selling to the right buyer - pm me if anyone's interested.

The first drum I ever owned was a Beverley (sp?) SD in kinda a white ripple or maybe white oyster pearl finish. Mid 60s, for 5th Grade Band. I don't remember if it was on the badge or not, but I do remember it was indeed made in England by Premier.

I'd sure like to have that one back (as with MOST of the drums I owned in my younger days!)! It was actually a "free-floater" as it had no lugs -- when you tuned the batter head, you were tuning the snare head as well. Had the slotted style tension rods.

Anyway, thanks for the memories...

If you mean "Did the factory deliver them in red?", the answer is yes.

The finish on this set is fantastic, it's a kind of deep streaky red, I think it's called Brilliant Red Plush. Car Driving2

My understanding of Beverley after 1959(when Albert Della-Porta bought the company) was that it quickly became Olympic with different lugs and badges. Why keep Beverley as an upscale drum and be competing with themselves? That was a problem for Premier, because they lost its unique niche. When Boosey&Hawkes stopped production of Ajax,Edgware,Stratford etc. around 1970, Premier saw the logic of handing the distribution of Beverley over to B&H in order to take advantage of their established sales network and place Beverley in a market that was not directly competitive with Premier or Olympic. So, they upped the drums from entry level to a more premium product again(sans forged hoops and a few other pre 1959 niceties). Yours are a really nice example of the B&H era Beverleys. Beautifull actually.

Thanks for the kind words! Some more pics attached (though the set is a much deeper red colour than the first pic might suggest).

Any idea whether the BD hoops are original? I had always presumed not, but then I saw another old Bev kit with similarly conspicuous ones.

Cheers!
