Does anyone have any information or know the history regarding "PowerBeat Drums"? I played on a set at a gig & know they are not very good, but I have never heard of them before. I have search the web & seen some photos & a ad or two for junior kits, but nothing on who & where they are made.
PowerBeat Drums?
-never heard of them before but I would guess they are probably an imported Asian kit made from generic, low-grade components.

Yeah...here's the info on PowerBeat.. I hit this by searching on CORA & PETER KUO INCORPORATION http://www.cpkinc.com/index.html
http://www.findownersearch.com/category/DRUMS/ This is kind of interesting little browse.. sort through the brake drum manufactures and there are some interesting percussion drum companies out there.
From 1-Come to Z-Plane they're all in there...

Yeah Power Beat drums are a cheap low grade kit. Their great I guess for beginers. They seem to be everywhere here in Australia. I bought a new one when I was first starting out, I thought it was great, for a while. I was young and knew hardly anything about drums. It still hurts to think I sold my first kit, a beautiful little early 70's vintage Pearl in a cool oyster blue pearl colour, in 20, 12, 14 sizes. I sold it to my mate for practically nothing. I'd love to buy it back one day. But anyway, yes Powerbeat cheap, low quality, made in Taiwan. They sound a little better than the boxes they come in though.
Cheers.
Guys, thanks, good information. Thats very funny about sounding like the boxes they shipped in, because it is true. I think the drums are made from "ply wood", like the stuff you build a house with. Thanks again.
I have a Power Beat Drum Set and it is amazing. It sounds great with the Coated Emperor's but it sounds bad with thew Pinstripes. I usually play a Mapex Snare Drum with which of course has a Coated Emperor.Walking
