New to Vintage Slingerland, need help

Loading...

Hey everyone,

This is my first post on this site. Up until now, I've been using a yamaha rydeen drum set. Recently, I purchased a used Slingerland drum set at a local music store. The color is whitish and they told me it is a 1963 set. The previous owner had recently passed and the daughter sold it to the shop, so I couldnt get in touch to learn more about my set. The badge is deffinitley from that era, but as far as models or any other types of information on the set, I am at a loss. This is my first vintage set and I don't know anything about Slingerland or how to figure out what type of model it was. The drum set came with a bass dtum, two rack toms, and a floor tom, but I have not had a chance to measure the sizes. All parts that it came with seem to be original, and the only hardware missing was the tom arms and floor tom legs. It also came with original Slingerland cymbal stands. If anyone could help me gain any information on the model or value of the set I would really appreciate it. Right now, I have only one picture of my set, and it is not in good lighting, but i could get more if someone lcould let me know that they could help me,

Thanks,

Chris

PS if I posted this thread in the wrong section, I apologise as this is my first post on this site.

another question if anyone can point me in the right direction.. the set didnt come with tom mounts, so as you can see, the toms are on snare stands. i would like to buy mounts that would fit and i havnt been able to find any that fit. are there any new ones made by gibraltar or anything? or will only vintage ones fit? thanks everyone

There are other Sling people on here that know way more then me,but from your pic it looks like the mounts/receivers are there, leat on the 2nd tom and Bass, and you would need a holder, whether it be a period correct Sling or after market, which you could get from gibraltar, since that kit looks to be original, drilling new holes,or holes that don't line up original hardware would devalue the set for sure.Rims type mounts would work, and you could mount on a separate floor stand,or from cymbal stands,a lot of vintage guys don't like that look with vintage drums.
