I recently acquired a vintage set of Yamahas, and would like info on the model/year, composition of the shells and number of plys, collectability of the model and wrap, and what would have been a fair price to have paid. I am pretty sure I got them at a steal for only $350, and I only had to dust them off a bit.
The kit appears to have all original hardware, including hihat stand and bass pedals, which are in perfect working order and near perfect cosmetics. The only exception is the crash stand which appears newer. The cymbals are a hodge-podge of older series, including Slingerland 14” Black Gold HiHats (stamped Made in Italy), a Pearl CX500 crash? and an older CB700 ride which also give a booming crash when struck just right. The toms have internal dampers which seem to be original and working perfectly. The interior of the shells are “painted” a silver/grey. They even came with a vintage set of Ludwig brushes!
Apparently these were owned and played for 30 years down at a local Legion hall before being retired and handed down to the second owner (who never learned to play and put them up for sale online.
