Well Done!!! That mounted tom looks a little to close for comfort to the bass drum. Maybe it is the pic angle. Hate to see you get any rash anywhere.

Thanks, I don't use the rail consolette for playing, just pictures. I usually have the rack tom on a snare stand with nice thick rubber brackets.

Just for my understanding, why would you not use the weenie if it works properly?

There are a couple reasons. First, I'm not really a finesse player. I play a lot of rock and heavier hitting stuff, and I just don't feel like the rail is secure enough to really hold the tom in place. The second, and main reason is that I have more options for positioning with a snare stand. I like to have the head of the rack tom pretty much level with my snare, just tilted toward me a little. With the rail it ends up 3-4" higher than I like it.

Good answer. I had thought it was because you might not be able to get it tight enough, as far too many drummers find that after 50 years, the arm stretches from tension around the bar. Coolio!

Thanks for the heads up Adam. That's a little overpriced though, even the shipping. Complete ones have been selling around $175. Maybe I should put mine in the trade section and see if someone wants to swap.

Yeah...I hear ya. I just figured you could pick it up and maybe move your shell/lugs to cover some of if not all of the cost.

Potsy24 -

I have a 16x16" Silver Sparkle keystone floor tom for you. Only thing that i am aware of that is not original is one of the floor tom legs. I believe it's mid to late 60's, not WFL, but a little closer to where you want to be.

I am actually in Roselle. I got it on Craigslist 4 or 5 years ago for $350... If you want it let me know, we can work something out.

Matt's Vintage Drums - Chicago, Illinois

I collect 6 lug Slingerland snare drums. Let me know if you have any for sale. Looking for Yellow Tiger, Silver Veil Pearl & Turquoise Veil Pearl
