Is this edge nick a problem?

Loading...

I'm looking at this crash cymbal, but it has an edge nick on it. Could this pose a problem as far as cracking or performance?

There is no sign of an actual crack. It will have no effect on the sound. I think you'll be just fine.

I try to avoid hitting the part of the cymbal that has the nick.

It tends to leave tell-tale forensic evidence in case you kill someone with that stick....electricitFYI

I think Jonnistix is trying to say that this is not a problem and their is no reason to not just ignore it and play the darn thing.

Unless it gets dropped, that will never develop into a crack, IMHO...

I see a little jag within that nick that could possibly develop a crack. I'd use a smooth rat-tail file to take it down past the nick a bit, just to be sure.

I disagree. He'd probably do much more harm than good and I don't believe its even necessary. This is a minor defect.
