I am going custom on the Vans. I haven't checked whether or not I can get a name on there. Since I am now an ordained minister, I want "the Rev" on my next pair of custom shoesx-mas3

I dunno if they do text or not but they definitely do custom shoes. Custom pair of Vans Old Schools will probably be my next pair for everyday use

This thread sounds familiar.

Always gigged with shoes of a light-weight, thin-soled construction. For years, I played with black Reebock Cross-trainers (I know, don't say it). I like to play at home barefoot, but love playing in my moose-hide moccasains. So comfy and just enough grip....if you can call it that.

I played barefoot today and went nuts. It was fun. It's easy on the DW 9002. I hate the pedal boards on the Iron Cobra barefoot. They hurt. I wore flip flops to an outdoor gig once and played barefoot and I had worn a blister on the ball of my foot and didn't really notice until I saw blood later. It was painful the next few days afterwards. It was at that point that I decided to wear appropriate footwear at gigs. Vans and the like are very cool for drumming. The year I dressed up as Alex from Clockwork Orange on Halloween was hard because of the boots but I looked damn good.

When I am home I play in Moose hide moccasins, they are the best. When I gig I like Doc Martin boots.

Elaborate on how to get a man-ish pair of ballet slippers. I can see those being good for drumming.

You just wear one on your right foot, then a Timberland work boot on your left foot!Laughing H

Right on, Mr. Lucky (isn't that a Vital Information [Steve Smith] tune?)! Another moose-hide lover. My moc's have the leather bottoms, so not so great for quick doubles-kicks; I was struggling today with them, with the moc's on. I suppose a pair with rubbery soles would provide more gription.

Moc-on!! Cool Dude

Well I would look pretty silly drumming naked and wearing shoes, now wouldn't I. That's why I'm a barefoot boy, with cheek.

Oh, so YOU'RE Rain Wilson's inspiration for the "naked drummer"!!! LoLoLoLo
