no shoes, but always with socks. i payed for this dearly once when my band played at CBGB's in NY. That stage was soaked from 30 years of blood, sweat, and god knows what else. The next time we played there i actually played with my shoes on. :D

Well I would look pretty silly drumming naked and wearing shoes, now wouldn't I. That's why I'm a barefoot boy, with cheek.

I play in shoes, preferably Puma's.....I can not see how some metal drummers play in boots though.

I am diabetic now so I don't play barefoot anymore. I like to wear Chuck Taylors, Vans (various and yes I have a few pairs of black/pink ones), and Adidas Rod Lavers. I used to like playing barefoot until I got the Tama Iron Cobras. The finish on that pedal tears up my foot. The Pearl Eliminator was good until the grips pop out. My DW 9002 feels fine but I have yet to gig with them but on gigs I always wear shoes because of glass and metal pieces like guitar strings. Does anyone here remember the Dave Weckl jazz shoes? I am sorry but those were lame and made me question Dave Weckl personally. Just kidding but jazz shoes? C'mon Dave. Steve Gadd in the Up Close dvd wore some kind of weird little elf boots or something. If I use an old Speed King or a Camco I like playing barefoot because I can really work one of those old pedals.

Neal Peart also wore what looked like dress shoes- not too unlike the Dave Weckl shoes.
