Zildjian on HC's "How it's Made"

Loading...

Just wondering, did anyone catch a recent "How it's Made" on the Science Channel where they covered cymbals? They visited the Zildjian factory. I now know why a good set of A's, K's etc. are so expensive. Part of the process is still done by hand!

I just watched it on youtube. Pretty neat. I didn't know so much of it was still done by hand. I want to be the QA/QC guy....I'd cherry pick all the best cymbals!

That was one cool documentary they did on Zildjian. How'd you like the way they laser etch the stamp.

Unlike cymbals from Turkey, where MOST of it is done by hand, and cheaper then a A.Zil!

Would that be the Istanbul Agop brand, or are there other brands hand made in Turkey? I've heard of the Istanbuls, but never played one. http://www.istanbulcymbals.com/

I think that I once read that Istanbul Agop is owned by a Zildjian family member that spun off their own company. How do they stand up to the Zildjians? I bet pretty well.

Yeah I would love to be the QC guy as well! I loved his stick work at the beginning of the show.

WOW. I've sure been outta the loop! Looks like I need to visit a drum shop that carries many different brands and try them out. I've been a Zildjian snob for too long.
