14" Avedis Zildjian Hi Hat cymbals

Loading...

Appear to be '60's, based on the stamp, taken off a set that was all '60's. One small little dent on the edge, but they still line up with practically no air space. No cracks at all. I did not clean them, virtually no keyholeing. Bottom cymbal weights 871 grams. Top cymbal weights 796 grams.

I am interested in buying them but want to know, what would you pay for these?

120.00 to 140 seems like beats to me very nice a deal at 90.

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Mmm...$90 total is about what they should go for given the dent/ding. You generally don't want an edge ding on a set of 'hats.

Keep in mind, these are pretty light 'hats. Would be good Jazz hats but they'd probably sizzle/wash out in a loud band setting.....

They sold for 125 but I didn't get them.

So Jaye, are you saying a heavy set would be better for a blues/rock sound?

I was looking for a set at under 900 grams.

I saw a set of 14" Avedis Zildjian Bottom weighs 1180 grams (approximately), and top is 800.

Also a 15" Avedis Zildjian set, top hat weighs 1475 grams and the bottom hat weighs 1668 grams

I tried to get a couple of sets of 14" but got out bid twice at around $135.00.

I did find a nice set of 15" Avedis Zildjian's early 70's that look good and sound great, at a Guitar Center near me. They want $180.00 for them and I am really tempted to go in there tomorrow and get em.

Ask for the drum shop manager and see if he will entertain an offer on them before you just drop trou on them. Many times you can look at the tag and there will be a date when they purchased them or traded for them. If they are more than 6 months, you might get a break. They are, afterall, a retail operation so cash flow is always on corporate's mind.

I'm just curious, what kind of scales do you all use to weigh your cymbals? Triple-Beams? LOL back in the day I used to see these around, albeit for other uses!

I measure mine at the post office, then convert to grams.

I love the thin hats sound. I currently use a much heavier top hat cymbal, though because I put the ultra thin hats in a category with ultra thin cymbals: they sound great for recording and when you play them they sound good but when you get in a band and play them they don't cut through very well.

Well after playing them I decided to go with the 15" Avedis Zildjian Hi Hats

instead of 14" They really sounded like I wanted my hats to sound. Paid more than what I started out looking for but I am totaly happy with them.

Add them to my vintage 16" 18" 20" and 22" Avedis Zildjian's and they round out the set. I will look for a splash or 2 in the future.

I took some pics after I cleaned them up a little.
