Yesterday I bought a superb 18'' A Zildjian hollow logo, made in Canada, an early seventies 1123 spur-lok, and a free MIJ bass drum muffler thrown in. Traded for 170$ and a ludwig timbale shell. I also could've gotten a 1400 for 50 bucks, but passed on that.

Ludwig Keystone (circa 1966) supraphonic snare drum with white felt baseball bat muffler. Some chrome acne, generic throw and one extra hole. Sounds great, especially for $15. Local Craigslist. The pictures are from listing, as I have not yet taken any.

I got a 16" Paiste China cymbal for 10 bucks off a guy I work with. It always seemed cooler thinking about getting a China cymbal than actually having one now. I hit it way too much and a little China goes a long way I have found out................crying2-07

I know I have told this story before on another thread but this is about deals right. My 66 Ludwig Super Classic belonged to a friend who had passed away. Fishing with him once in the Keys we were talking drums and he told me of this great Ludwig kit he had. He was in a wheelchiar and hadn't been able to play them since like 1972. So they sat in his dining room ever since in bag cases and a trap case. When he died a few years ago his widow contacted my ex-wife. My ex and I are still good friends. She asked me if I was interested in his drums. I went to the widows house and she showed them to me. I told her that I couldn't afford them and I said at the very least she could get about 2k for them. I told her if it was ok I would pay her in installments. All I had was 200 bucks. She said with a smile, "We'll make this work." I almost cried. I was loading the drums in my truck and felt like a little kid at xmas. When I was at her house there was no snare drum. She said Rick must have lost it. When I got the kit home and opened the trap case there was the Super Sensitive snare. I took them home and cleaned them up, put new heads on them, tuned them up and used them on a few sessions. Wow! Coming from a guy who was always a Gretsch guy, these drums made me a Ludwig fan. So now there is room for both Gretsch and Ludwig. LOL!

Its better to have people think you're an idiot, than to open your mouth and prove them wrong, unless you doubt yourself then speak away....
