First restoration...a family heirloom...60's Ludwigs

Loading...

Yeah, the fade... well I still wouldn't re-wrap 'em. It's not nearly as bad as some I've seen. I have an orphan Ludwig bdp rack tom that is nasty.

You'll have a sweet kit when you're done, and having it be an heirloom is all the better!

Can't wait to see what you did today!Kind of like a daily soap opera!

Between work and some family obligations I've been forced to take a break for a day or two :( But I can't wait to get busy again!

I just noticed something as I went to check on the bass drums....the 24" is the one with the double tom mount attached...the 22" is a virgin...does that change anything as far as it's possibly being a "Hollywood" configuration? (forgive my ignorance :) )

You have eyes apon you, yes we like this kinda stuff !! Gonna watch this thread as I did the other one with drums just like yours only a little further gone than yours. They came out awsome compared to the rust pile that fist showed up.

For the bubble, you`re gonna have to get glue under the bubble and use thin braces (to bend with the curve) with blocks and clamps but be sure to protect the clamps from marking the wrap. Get all the advise you can first and determine your best course of acton.

looking forward to see how these come out, as with all the readers interested !!

I'll keep watching for more suggestions...but thanks for your idea...I like it...sounds very promising!

No joke...when this is all done I'll certainly be able to say with honesty that I couldn't have done it without the help here from you guys. Nice to know there are still places one can turn for wise, knowledgeable help...just to "do the right thing" with no expectation of any gain. That's a rare thing these days...

Thanks!!!!

now that you say that about the base drum being a 24 and the virgin a 22 i 'm stymied, a little help boys????

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

This is what I use to get glue under the wood.

If your close to a Rockler wood working store they have them.
