Hey Gents.....I am looking to pin point the exact year of a SUPRA snare drum. The serial number is 199xxxx. Although the info listed on this forum under "serial numbers" has been a great help, it does get dodgy after the mid seventies. The only thing I know for certain is that all rounded corners means it's a 1979. Anybody have more specific info or knowledge regarding those years?flower
LUDWIG B/O badge serial numbers?
Actually, the rounded corners started in 1980. I have a Supra from 1979 (197xxx) and it's a pointy-cornered badge. It's a pretty safe bet that your drum with a 199xxx serial number is a '79.

Okay....When did they stop using the blue/olive badge? I was sure that the 80's was the black/silver badge....
1984, I think.....

Black/white badges were from the Rocker series of entry/mid-level and on some snares like the black Acrolite. Ludwig switched from using blue/olive badges on top-of-line drums to large keystone badges right before the move to Monroe, N.C. There is a transition period (I think 1984-85) where some of the keystone badges say Chicago.
