Ludwig 14 X 13 orphan tom needs loving home

Loading...

NO LONGER AVAILABLE AS OF 4/28/11.

This is a 14 X 13 black cortex wrap Ludwig tom with 20 lugs and a modular mount for a 1" diameter Ludwig mount arm. It is missing the original tension screw but does not appear to be stripped, I think it could be made whole again with the appropriate replacement part. The lugs are all in very nice shape with minimal scratches except one I notice has some oxidation, it may have been swapped out at some time in the drum's history. Wrap is tight, one white(ish) scratch mark below badge (look close), inside is clean and un-monkeyed with, edges are good with no delaminating voids. Might buff out blemishes with a good polishing compound from auto parts store. The hoops as I found this did not match, were not original, and will not be for sale so treat yourself to some nice new 2.3's, or diecast even, and new tension rods as well, that way no one will be disappointed . Will ship without heads. Here's how I figured pricing:

20 lugs @ $6.00

mount @ $15.00

shell @ $40.00

check you math, that doesn't add up:$61 does.

Your addition is good, but you forgot the multiplication... Last I checked there was more than 1 lug on that drum.

20 lugs @ 6.00= 120.00 + 40 +15=175

ahh I read your 20 lugs $6 as 6 for them all. Gotcha.

Thanks for looking out for me though...It wouldn't have been the first or only math mistake I've made. No harm done, no offense taken.

While I'm here... Why on Earth did Ludwig use twenty lugs on this model? it's so heavy! and without the added weight of rims and heads even. Then suspend it from a one inch diameter pipe and pound out a couple choruses of Kashmir with 3S march sticks on taped up Emperor heads, man you got some serious forces going on at that point. I should weigh it just for laughs. How many lugs did the smaller toms have for this set? And did they use 24 for the bass drum? Seems like overkill to me. Kinda like fishing lures being designed to catch fishermen not fish, know what I mean?
