Did Slingerland put 2 sets of legs on any 20" bass drums ever? Bought this today and it sure is set up for two sets. They all look identical like they are factory as well. I believe this shell is from the 70's.
Slingerland Question
The 80N Buddy Rich outfit could be ordered with a 20 inch bass and that came standard with twin pairs of spurs.
Thanks Rogersling. If the inside is not painted and it has a large size "P" then this is probably 70's right?
18" and 20" floor toms came with them!
My understanding is that Buddy wanted it this way back in the late 60s when he joined the Slingerland group, so this was incorporated when they designed the 80N Outfit. I'm not the Buddy expert, by any stretch of the imagination ... just my understanding. My guess would be that it provides a more stable platform. He did mount two cymbals and a Tom on that bass, after all.
It's the 76 cat that this 20 bass option appears. It doesn't appear in the 73 or the 77 cats. I think it might have only been that one year.
This is just a rabbit trail. I'm not saying your bass is a Buddy bass.
