The buyer should ALWAYS follow the seller's rules and terms. If there are parts of the auction that a buyer doesn't agree with or wants changed.....forget it. Move on to the next auction. DO NOT try and negotiate with a seller after the fact. It's low class. Just accept the terms listed in the auction and respect them. If the seller is charging 9 million dollars for shipping on a 2 cent item, then just forget it and move on.....unless you agree with those terms. That's always been my policy.

I had some CLOWN on eBay tell me once that since he was the buyer,he could call the shots on how to ship/which carrier etc..........

I told him that's not the way it is.......................

I also get people telling me NOT to use packing popcorn etc,as it costs them more,and to not insure for same reason.

My favorite:

just use a box a little larger then the item.........will save them on shipping..........yeah sure.....on your $900 Turkish K.Sailing2

If you can afford a $900 cymbal,you can afford the extra $20 that IT COST ME to get a custom made,STRONG cardboard box/lots of bubble wrap/biodegradable popcorn/TOP OF THE LINE 3m tape............

yes, blairndrums I agree. I have had all kinds of people buy an item and then tell me how they are going to pay me with a personal check or whatever other option I did not list. It doesn't even make any difference how detailed I make auctions....nobody seems to read the details until AFTER they win. Then, if they see a problem, they want to negotiate it. That's really irritating. And eBay now favors the buyers so much, it's nerve racking to be a small-time seller like me. Agreements between sellers and buyers should be handled the same way any auction is handled. In other words, as a buyer, you need to look at the pictures and ask the questions and do whatever other research right up front. If you win, it's yours. As a seller, you are obliged to be honest and give full and detailed disclosure about the items you sell. You can't be dishonest and hide flaws or under-describe the details. So, if buyers and seller only do those two simple things, then that alone will alleviate the problems.

In the event that a shipper damages an item, then that is an exceptional circumstance and should be handled accordingly. That's why I always add insurance, regardless.

But I am definitely looking into alternatives for selling things like drum sets, now. I may use this forum or maybe check out that one guy's new thing if it pans out....haven't heard any more about that, btw.

I've been closely monitoring that one. There's lots of problems and a couple of nice things. I can see two cymbals, a kit, and a snare that appear to be sold. I know of another kit that looks like it sold, but it was a non-payment. Lots and lots of bad mojo going on. It's fairly easy to see a familiar user with more than one account there bidding on his own stuff. That was fun to watch.

Until several items are addressed, it's going to be hit or miss on good business practices ... mostly miss.

Do not succumb to his feeble bantering. He's being a jerk and does not deserve the energy you've given him. He either pays or he doesn't. If he does, he's still already been reported. If he doesn't, then he gets two strikes; one for his initial bullying report and one for non-payment. This is cut and dry.

A follow-up.I did open a un-paid case the guy paid with-in an hour of the case being open....Now i will have to deal with his Feedback..And any other problem's he pull's...Any help on fighting his feedback you know it's going to be bad....Mikey

As I think I said before feedback has to be factually accurate or you can have it removed, at least under the rules before they "improved" it. So have all your documentation ready to submit. Anybody else still sell on eBay so you can check the rules for feedback?

Jeez, from now on I'd add on the description of your items: AS IS, shipping cost is FIRM. New problems will arise and need to be adjusted accordingly with experience.

I have said this a couple times on here Mikey777, THEY need you more than you need them. Period. Do what you want to and if they don't like it, then they can try to find another seller with an inventory like yours!!
