I'm trying to figure out why there is a lug on the INSIDE of the tom shell....?

That is a very good question....I'd like to hear the answer too! DOH

Some previous owner must have lost 2 of the 4 nuts for the tom mount and it had the same spacing and screw diameter as a lug. Hey, if the lug isn't being used for the reso side...

Regarding the value of the set, yes, it would require a bit of money for some missing parts, but it doesn't look as though it's in terrible shape. It comes with a snare, not a Star, but a snare with a matching wrap. With the Ludwig stand, the owner could get upwards of $200 for that. That wouldn't be crazy. Then again, maybe I'm crazy. I spent an entire day last weekend polishing and reassembling a Taiwanese COS snare that I probably won't be able to sell for a dime over 20 bucks. It actually cleaned up pretty nicely, but that's beside the point...

Well, you know how when you buy a quality suit it comes with a couple of spare buttons sewn inside the sleeve? In case you lose one? Well this is clearly a quality drum set so it came with a spare lug sewn inside the shell. Excited

I know wrap only comes 54", but that sure seem's (excuse the pun) like an odd place to have the seam.

I liked the pun...

The inner lug is a statement. Yep, that's it, a statement. A very deep, wise, statement.

Okay, I'm done... DOH

the inner lug on inside of tom shell its for the rare one of double inside tom mount for reflex timbre fyi....

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
