Just to clarify, copper is the first step in the chrome plating process, THEN nickel, then the chrome (hence the misnomer of "triple chrome plated", there is no such thing as triple chrome plated BTW.) In your case they would stop after the nickel plate was done. Then just polish to a nice luster. :D
Slingerland Professional Snare Nickel Re-plating?
Anyone have suggestions for repro 3 point strainers? I have a reissue Radio King which has one. Are they still available? From whom?
The only one I found online was AK's handmade remakes for 150 Euros!
Any hod rod type of plater should be able to do nickel. So-called "triple plate" chrome or "show chrome" is copper then nickel then chrome. You won't need the copper since you have a brass shell, just the nickel. I've had a couple of NOB rims done and they look great.

Thank you for that, Lenos. Do you think re-plating affects the sound of a shell (or hoops, for that matter).
You could probably make a case either way for the shell but at best it would be splitting hairs. My take is that these are not precision instruments; the differences within one batch are probably far larger than you would find by adding a nearly microscopic layer of nickel. Let's not even bring differences in heads into it. Ultimately a good drummer can make a trash can sound good and the finest instrument won't make a thrasher sound any better. My advice is to do what you want to. For me I feel a lot more inspired sitting at a kit that I have done my best to make nice.
