I got some 70's Zildjians today. 14" new beat hi hats, a 20" ride, and a 16" crash. I got the whole set for $175. They sound great!

This was my kit previously. I just never got around to giving the clean up that they deserve. Thanks for takin good care of em! Can't wait to see the finished product!

You are welcome, thanks for selling them to me! I didn't know you were on this forum, I was planning on sending you the link instead of emailing picture updates. So far, so good-- the kit is really cleaning up nicely.

Are you going to re-paint the bass drum hoops? Mine look in a pretty similar condition to yours, so I'm hoping to spruce them up a bit, but haven't tried it yet.

Yes, I'll be repainting them. I've read a little about others doing it, and I think I'll try taping off the inlays and finding the right black spray paint.

Update: the rack tom is finished now, and the bass drum is close behind. I used Noxon metal polish on the nickel after buffing on the bench grinder, and Novus 2 on the shell. I'm very happy with the results, and the drum sounds fantastic with new G2/G1 heads. Here are some pictures.

BTW, I replaced the tension rods, but I'll save the original ones in case the next owner is more of a purist than I am. If I ever let this kit go, that is. I got some tension rods for the bass drum to use instead of the t-rods too. I'll take some pictures with the t-rods, but then they'll be put away. They're just too inconvenient for me.

I need your help man! Check out my thread "BOP Club Date Chrome Nickel Help Im An Idiot" in the vintage drum section. It should probably get moved here now that I am getting into a project on it.

You think your hardware is nickel? If yours is then mine definitely could be...but I am having a hard time knowing for sure. I need to figure it out tho so that I can buy a couple of hardware pieces.

I'm pretty sure mine is nickel. Side by side with pieces that I know are chrome, my stuff is noticeably less shiney. Also, I thought they were using nickel on all the wfl stuff in the late 50's. I'm far from an expert on that topic though. Anyway, yours looks looks similar to mine after cleaning and before polishing. I hope that helps. Good luck with that floor tom. Yikes.
