I know you can use the pull chain from a light etc. Here's one I used for a quick set up. It suprised me too. Used a thin wire off a wire tag and a couple screws....
Economy Sizzle
Well, it ain't pretty, but I would imagine that it produces an interesting sizzle sound and would certainly work in a pinch. I think I'll try it.

whoah....you're too much a detective...yes they're from a buddy's place where there's a kit I play on and found these lying around to use who just so happens to be an HVAC guy /guitarist! Guitar Dude Man
