A. Zildjian & Cie Question

Loading...

I recently aquired a Zildjian cymbal that is inked with the words "A. Zildjian & Cie Vintage". I am just curious if anyone can give me a time line on when Zildjian made these.

They are obviously (to me) a newer cymbal, but I can't find any data on when they were manufactured.

Anyone?? - Thanks

The Zil cie cymbals were originally made way back in the 30's I think, and were reissued I think in the late 90's?,and have done another limited edition recently. The original reissues were not offered for a real long time,I have played a couple and thought they were pretty nice.

I don't think the 1930s ones would have ink on them. Just die stamps. :)

Others know much more than I do about these Zildjian issues.

I'm sure there is an older thread on this if you have a look.

Not old or vintage, but I find them to behave in a nice vintage manner. The crashes tend to be thin and responsive. I have also heard good things about the rides. No info on the hats, but if they follow suit I would not hesitate to get a pair. I use a pair of 16 and 18 Z&Cie crashes when I play out instead of my irreplaceable trans stamp crashes.

I think they were recently reintroduced as well.

The 1930's types were not made by Avedis Zildjian but by Aram Zildjian in Bucharest Rumania and are rarer than rare squared. This is not one of those, you can be sure of that.
