Tacky question....

I have a 16" Gretsch tom that I will be tacking a reso head onto. I can't find the original tacks used........been looking lots. The holes in the shell are for two-pronged tacks - the ones with flat heads. If anyone here has some to sell please let me know.

Which ones would look best:

1) I have some "Antique Daisy" upholstery tacks (like what Gretsch uses in the center of the tom badges). So I could use these.........70 of them. It would look interesting - a nice Gretsch touch - Gretsch badge center-like and would set off against the white calfhide & black & gold Duco finish.

2) I have some really nice vintage two pronged tacks that are too small but I can easily remove a prong and use one tack in each of the two holes about 140 tacks. These would look nice too I think.

What would your vote be?

DAISY ANTIQUE tack

OR

1/4" BRASS TACK like here but with one prong removed

Try an upholster (sp?) shop.....fairly common to them, I think.

I tried a lot of Upholstery shops - they have a ton of tacks but none of them carry the two pronged tacks with the flat oval heads. There are some two pronged tacks out there but none of them are close to what they used on these old drum shells. I've even been looking on-line - nothing yet.
