Hi!

My first post here :)

I wonder if anyone knows anything about these slingerlands?

I know that they are:

22x16"

18x16"

13x12"

12x11"

Thank you :)

I don't know too much - but - I do know that since recently joining this board you can go up top on the page and find links that will tell you an awful lot about those drums. I've been learning a great deal about my Slingerland/Ludwig kit in the past 2 weeks.

I'm including links to Vintage Drum Guide for your reference...

The badge dates them to 1985 or so. Looks like they weren't making drums in the USA much beyond then.

The color is either Pewter Silk or Silver Silk.

Even without seeing the shells, my guess would be that they are the 5-ply Maple-Poplar-Maple-Poplar-Maple shells. Picture.

I think these would be considered "Artist" series, as they still have the Set-O-Matic hardware... Magnum series had tougher/weirder hardware, and the Spirit series had Pearl-stlye hardware.

The drums, while not explicitly collectible, are decent Poplar/Maple shells, that are going to be thicker, louder and a little more aggressive/attack-y sounding than most vintage drums of the 60s/70s as well as modern thinner shells.

For functional purposes, at least they have nice modern bass drum spurs, but the double tom holder (Set-O-Matic) is somewhat notorious for being difficult to use/adjust, and it's hardly ergonomic - especially with deeper toms.

Hope this helps!

Yes those are from the 80's they have the deeper shells and they don't have reinforcing rings.

Thanks for all help.

As I considering to buy these drums I also wonder if you guys think they are worth the ~$677? (4500 swedish krona)

Edit: I also have to ask if anyone knows how they sounds compared to my Imperialstars (the new ones)

Not sure how the Imperialstars sound. and I also have a set of the mid 80's Slingys.

I also have three sets of vintage 1970's slingys and the sound is night and day difference.

Nothing beats the great sound of the old three plys with rerings.

The matter of worth is slippery, but I think if those were up on eBay in the US, they probably wouldn't sell for more than $500. There's not a lot of market for those drums, especially with the deeper toms... But if you're in Sweden, I'm sure the vintage market is entirely different, and a little pricier.

Relative to the Imperialstars (thinner, all-poplar shell), these will certainly be louder, more aggressive AND more resonant... They are still 80's pro-quality drums.
