My first vintage drum set!

... well, sorta.

Some vintage drums have already gone through my hands, but this time, it's the "real deal," or so I hope. MY first whole 60s Amati shellset.

So I've got this:

60s

Flat base snare stand

3ply beech w/reinforcement rings:

20x14 bass drum in red sparkle

16x16 floor tom in red sparkle, somewhat out of round... missing one hoop

12x10 tom in gold sparkle w/black stripes, missing one hoop

16x16 floor tom in gold sparkle w/ black stripes, missing one hoop

70s-80s

14x8 probably COB snare (can't wait to put decent heads and strainer on it, gonna be great)

Cymbal boom stand

Some crappy marching cymbal, only one

SONOR DOUBLE PEDAL (Got this one for free with the other stuff, I'm really thrilled!)

So, these drums need some polishing and cleaning, there are some spliting plies, but I guess that can be fixed, altough I'll probably have to use metal plate on the tom :(. I know they are of different colors, but then again, I think that red and gold fit kinda well.

There is one problem, however. These old Amati hoops are made for slightly smaller heads - modern REMOs don't fit them. Do you know of any narrow-collared heads I could use?

And can anyone tell me more about the pedal I got there? Looks like quality German work, altough it's somewhat out of shape now.

Thank you for your replies and have a nice day!!

Great find Gilnar,congratulates!

I think this bass drum is from set with 12 and 13"toms,has two tom/bass drum brackets on it.Are you sure your tom is 12"?All Amati from that period I saw had cross lugs bottom and top hoop, not in the same line like yours.Your tom looks like 13

If I can remember,Remo heads work ok for these drums,I saw guys play Amti with Remo

Hi, thank you!

Amati didn't make 13" toms then, or at least I haven't seen any yet. But they made 12" toms in 9" and 10" depth. What I got is 10" depth, the 9" got the offset lugs you mentioned.

Oddly, REMOs fit the 12" tom perfectly, but the 16" hoop is too small for them.

Re the last kit shown, I think that is the FUGLIEST rug/couch I have ever seen!

Put that kit up behind a nice backdrop,it would show it off much better.........
