Does this look like a Paiste 2002

Loading...

I found this cymbal for sale but the seller can only tell me that it is 22" with PAISTE written under the bell with the serial number 651356 written under PAISTE.

I thaught it might be a 1976 2002 black label 22" ride.

Any thaughts?

76 paiste 2oo2 will have the stamped logo. The ink will be gone, but the stamp.... was embossed in the metal.

No. That's definitely not a 602. That's a B-8 cymbal.

$142.00 Shipped. I may be able to get it cheaper because neither him nor I know what it is. I'm going to call back and have him look it over again to see if he can find any other marks. It doesn't look like a cheap cymbal and based on the serial numbers it would date from the 70's - early 80's I think. Hmmmm

Yup that's true. My 18" BL medium crash has the embossed logo but it doesn't say PAISTE under the bell, it says MEDIUM in ink and has the serial number embossed under it.

If it's a 2002 then it would be a 1986 red label. But at first glance the bell looks too big, to me, to be a 2002 ride. Their bells tend to be smaller and more integrated into the cymbal. My first instinct tells me it's a 505 but I can't see the lathing good enough. A 505 will have a deep lathe circle about every 1/4" with fine lathing in between, very uniform, all the way from the edge to the hole in the center. On a 2002, there is no uniformity to the deep lathes. I know it sure looks alot like my 22" 505 Medium. I'd have him put it on a scale. It may not even be a ride after all.

My 505 doesn't have hammering like that. It does have the very uniform deep lathing as described ....marko

The hammering is why I thaught it was a 2002 but I'm no Paiste expert.
