Italian hi hat identification help

Loading...

I was at some guy's house earlier that had some old hi hats in the corner. The only info that I could find on them was the word "Italy", then under that something that looked like "CIC ONE". Any ideas on who made them. I can find anything. Good/bad? Didn't have time to play them since he was leaving. They felt like they were on the heavy side. Thanks.

Sounds more like band cymbals that have been adapted for use as hi-hats. This happens all the time with old Constantinoples.

I really don't know what the manufacturer of these could be without a photo of that trademark under the "Made in Italy".

They didn't make cymbals for "other companies".

The sold their own cymbals under various "stencil brand" trademarks. A few were sold by drum companies. Most were independently marketed.

Yes I know they did. There were dozens and dozens of others. But unless it actually has the UFIP trademark on the cymbal then they're all considered to be stencil brands. If you want to know I can show you the list.

Sorry to semi-hijack, but it was cool to find out (although not surprising in the case of Drumaholic) that we have people knowledgeable about Italian cymbals.

I have this set of 14" hi-hats. They were made around or before 1968 based on what I was told from their former owner. The only thing they say on them anywhere is "made in italy" as shown in the pic.

They have next to nil value, but I love their sloshy sound.

Curious if you can tell us anything about them--I seem to recall when I got them a couple of years ago doing some research and the best I could come up with was the name "Tosco".

Those are Ajahas, which is another one of the myriad of UFIP stencil brands.

Cheers Bill. From this I was able to read old threads where you (and Jaye) talked about that brand. Much appreciated as always. You are a real asset to this site.

Damn I found the stamp on someone else's post while at work. Now at home I can't find it. Does anyone have a copy of a sheet that has a whole bunch of Italian cymbal manufacturers stamps on it? There was a whole bunch of them like 30 or 40) on one sheet in a post. The CIC ONE stamp was near the top right corner....grrrrrr.
