Looking for 70's 6.5 Ludwig Black Beauty

Loading...

Hi folks, I am new to the forum, my name is Tom Nelson. I am currently working a 70's tribute band doing a bunch of theater shows booked for the winter. I'd like to complete my vintage Ludwig kit with a 70's 14 x 6.5 black beauty. Standard lugs and snare set-up. I am not interested in the super sensitive or any engraving. If you have one or know of one that is for sale please let me know. I'm anxious to check the rest of the forum out, looks like a great place! Thanks for the help.

Welcome to the forum, Tom.

Hope you enjoy it here, and find what you need.

Where are you cats playing?

So far I'm finding this to be a great site, thanks. I am playing mostly in PA with a few NJ shows and an occasional NY show. Are you working with a similar group?

Naw, I was just hoping to get to one of your shows.... but it would be quite a drive from N.C. to do that.

Good to meet you though,

Kev

I just sold one last week! They're pretty hard to find, and are getting to be more in demand. I listed mine for sale and it was sold in less than an hour!

What's the going price these days and do you know what year your drum was produced?

I believe mine was a '78, before the B stamp. I put it on my website for $1600 and it was sold almost immediately, to Japan. They seem to be extremely hot in Japan right now, but only the late 70's Supraphonic models. The customers that I've had looking for these don't seem to want the 80's B/O version, nor do they want Super Sensitives.

Bill, Thanks for the update. I like to hear the prices as I think it helps establish a historical record and a value guideline.

Thanks,

Hop
